Elisa Puzzolo, MSC, PhD, MPH
Appointment: Manager of Environmental Health Research, Global LPG Partnership
Areas of interest: Household air pollution and improving access to clean and safe household energy.
Background: Studied biology at the University of Catania, Italy, and obtained a PhD at the International School for Advanced of Trieste, before embarking on a career in Public Health. She moved to the University of Liverpool in 2009, where she worked as a research associate in environmental health until 2013 and where she also obtained a Masters in Public Health. Elisa then moved to Geneva to work for the World Health Organisation, contributing to the programme of work linking household energy, air pollution and health. In her new role, she offered technical assistance on a number of projects and collaborations with international partners, and contributed to the development of the forthcoming health-based indoor WHO Guidelines for household fuel combustion.
Her research on factors influencing the adoption of cleaner and more efficient household energy technologies and fuels was awarded with the David Sackett Prize in 2014.
Recently, she has joined the Global LPG Partnership where she is coordinating the health research, monitoring and evaluation activities on behalf of the partnership.
