Emily Adams BSc MSc PhD

Appointment: Assistant-Professor/Lecturer at LSTM and the University of Warwick. 

Areas of interest: Diagnostics: development, evaluation and implementation of novel diagnostics 

Background: Emily studied for her PhD at Bristol University and subsequently worked in the Netherlands at the Royal Tropical Institute in the development and evaluation of molecular diagnostics for the Kinetoplastida diseases.  As a joint appointment between LSTM and University of Warwick she specialises in the evaluation of tests for Tuberculosis, Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases. Further she is interested in diagnostics in elimination phases of disease control. How can tests be used to screen, survey, and certify elimination, and what are the profiles for such diagnostic tests. 

She is a member of the WHO-VL laboratory network, the PKDL consortium and the diagnostics modelling consortium. Emily is the diagnostic lead at the Research Centre for Drugs and Diagnostics, LSTM and the Honorary Communications Secretary for the British Society for Parasitology.
