Areas of Interest: Maternal and newborn health in developing countries; Neonatology; Neonatal infections, Continuous positive airway pressure for newborns in developing countries; Neonatal morbidity; Tuberculosis in children; Tropical medicine.
Background: Manuel graduated in Medicine and in Paediatrics in Belgium (Université de Louvain). He has 10 years’ experience of working in paediatrics, including 5 years of work at post-graduate level. He has a good experience of working in developing countries, acquired in Africa (Burundi, DRC, Sierra Leone and CAR), Haiti and Afghanistan.
Teaching: Manuel lectures on the Neonatal module of the Masters in Sexual and Reproductive Health (MISRH) and Diploma for Reproductive health (DRH).
Research: Manuel is developing research proposals on neonatal health care in developing countries.
Current Projects: Making it Happen in Asia (India, Bangladesh and Pakistan).
