Dr Miriam Taegtmeyer BSC, BM BCh, PhD, FRCP

Background: A qualified teacher who studied medicine at Oxford before professional training in internal medicine and infectious diseases in Liverpool. From 2000-2004 she was the founder director of a successful Kenyan NGO, LVCT Health. Since her appointment at LSTM in 2007, she has spearheaded HIV testing and counselling work on a global platform and developed an international reputation in the global public health response to HIV at community level. She is the coordinator of REACHOUT, a 5 year EC funded FP7 grant with 8 partners, that examines the equity, effectiveness and efficiency of close to community providers in Africa and Asia.
She holds an appointment in the UK National Health Service as Honorary Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
