Professor Nynke van den Broek
Nynke is an international leader in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) in developing countries, with 20 years working experience. She has extensive research experience; planning, conducting and supervising both quantitative and qualitative programmes in the areas of maternal health, neonatal health and gynaecological morbidity.
She also has extensive experience of designing and delivering capacity-building programmes for improving the delivery of reproductive health services with a focus on maternal and newborn health.
As Head of CMNH Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, Nynke leads a multidisciplinary team of lecturers and technical assistants with a focus on key areas which include - Skilled Birth Attendance (SBA) and Essential (or Emergency) Obstetric Care (EOC), improvement of quality of care using tools such as maternal and perinatal death audit and criterion-based audit and increasing access to and availability of care.
Nynke’s work focuses on promoting high quality evidence-based healthcare in the context of a wider health systems approach, in addition to comprehensive monitoring and evaluation of programmes using rigorous methodology. Her work contributes widely to the body of literature and knowledge on Reproductive Healt.h
