Professor Joseph Ndung’u (BVM, PhD, CorrFRSE)
Professor Joseph Ndung’u is the head of the HAT and Other Neglected Diseases diagnostics programme at FIND (Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics) in Geneva.
Joseph joined FIND in 2006, and started the HAT (human African trypanosomiasis or sleeping sickness) diagnostics program, within which the new rapid test for sleeping sickness has been developed.
He has a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVM) from the University of Nairobi and a PhD in immunopathology of HAT from the University of Glasgow’s Veterinary School. He is a Visiting Professor of the University of Glasgow and a Corresponding Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (CorrFRSE).
Prior to joining FIND in 2006, Joseph was the Director of KETRI (Kenya Trypanosomiasis Research Institute) in Kenya for nine years.
