Sally Theobald, BA, MA, PhD

Sally Theobald, BA, MA, PhD is a Reader in Social Science and International Health and member of the gender and health group. LSTM.

Sally has a disciplinary background of geography and development studies and a PhD in Gender, Health and Development. She has over 18 years’ experience of research on gender, equity and health systems in Africa and Asia. She has wide ranging experience of designing and implementing gender sensitive qualitative research projects on HIV, TB, SRH and health systems in Africa and Asia. Sally’s current research focus and grants are in the following areas: 1. Gender equity, human resources and health systems (including a focus on both close to community providers and  post conflict contexts, see for example REACHOUT and ReBUILD); 2. Gender equity, health systems sexual and reproductive health and tuberculosis 3. Research uptake and capacity building. Sally is interested in implementation research and acts as an advisor to the Alliance for Health Policy & Systems Research Implementation Research Platform.
